Lisa Kerr Parlo has been a member of the New York State bar since 1989.  Her practice areas include Real Estate law and Commercial Litigation. In addition, she is a practicing, trained mediator.  She has experience as a large law firm attorney, as a government attorney, in private practice, and as a mediator.  

LEGAL PRACTICE

As an attorney in the New York City offices of Webster and Sheffield, Lisa’s practice primarily focused on Real Estate transactional work, including leasing, financing and acquisitions, both corporate and personal. As an attorney for the City of New York, Corporation Council, Division of Commercial Litigation, her practice focused on any commercial litigation matters where New York City was the defendant, including lawsuits brought against the School Construction Authority. Lisa also defended New York City in federal court in section 1983 civil lawsuits brought against the city by prison inmates.

After working for The Corporation Councils office, Lisa maintained a private practice focusing on real estate, contracts and mediation.

MEDIATION EXPERIENCE

After extensive training in the field of mediation and conflict resolution, Lisa has help guide clients to successful resolution of legal and non-legal issues through the mediation process

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

As a founding director and secretary on the board of SLBC Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Lisa drafted and filed Articles of Incorporation and By-laws as well as filed documentation for recognition of status as a tax exempt organization.  Additionally, she was responsible for drafting Articles of Incorporation and Board resolutions, maintaining corporate records, reporting to membership the business of the corporation, and preparing yearly corporate and tax filings.

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND

Lisa received an undergraduate degree, cum laude, from The State University of New York at Albany and earned a Juris Doctor from The University of Pennsylvania.   She has been admitted to practice in New York since 1989.  She has been married for the past 26 years to her husband, Christopher, and has three almost-grown sons.
